About Us
The Yancey Animal Advocacy was founded in 2018 to support the community through education and the creation of county ordinances that would provide law enforcement with an additional tool when dealing with neglect and abuse cases. The ordinances outline specifics regarding proper care and maintenance of domestic pets. Over the years the Yancey Animal Advocacy (YAA) has expanded into a community outreach program. The YAA has become a recognized non-profit in the state of North Carolina. We, (the YAA) have an annual pet food drive that collects food, supplies, and monetary donations, which in turn is given to the community pantry at the Yancey Humane Society. We have partnered with the Blood Connection for charity drives and we are a recognized non-profit by Chewy.com. The YAA provides free dog houses to those in need. The YAA works closely with both the Yancey Humane Society and the Yancey County Sheriff's Department. The YAA also works with local veterinarians to help residents of Yancey County. It is our goal to make sure not a single animal in our fine county goes without food, water, and proper shelter. This is our desire; this is our passion; and we commit ourselves whole heartedly to the animals of Yancey County.
